Plot

In the series Abhilasha (born 19 November 1992) lives in the small town of Sagar and is married to Manan (born 2 April 1989), who was raised in Bhopal. A naïve, emotionally-dependent woman, she desires love and a simple life. When they return to Manan's home in Bhopal after their wedding, Manan receives an offer of a job in Mumbai. Stubborn and ambitious, he has lost sight of the simple pleasures around him. They begin their arranged marriage in Mumbai, to which Abhilasha has difficulty adjusting.

In the city, Abhilasha and Manan live with Manan's childhood friend (Siddharth Varma) and his roommate in their bachelor pad; a neighbour, Mrs. Zariwala, thinks Abhilasha is a girlfriend or a prostitute. Before he leaves for work Manan cautions Abhilasha against letting strangers in and leaving the apartment, but she admits a vacuum saleswoman who steals her earrings. Manan's concern for Abhilasha is criticised by his boss, Shaila Mehta. Manan and Abhilasha quarrel and make up.

Abhilasha is crying the next day, overwhelmed by the wild behaviour of Siddharth's friends. Manan moves to Goregaon; when Abhilasha finds a couple having sex in Manan's bedroom, she prepares to return to Bhopal. When Manan receives a promotion the next day, she decides to stay.

Manan faces financial difficulty in trying to buy a house. In Bhopal Riddhi's marriage proposals fail because of high dowry demands, creating rifts in the family. Abhilasha wins ₹25,000 in a television quiz contest; her mother-in-law is suspicious when she tells her that she wants to open a bank account, until Abhilasha buys Sumit a laptop computer. Riddhi finds a suitable match, but the groom's father calls off the marriage. Riddhi becomes depressed, and her mother plans to send her to family in Mumbai.

When Manan finds a house, Abhilasha is reluctant to buy it because she sympathizes with its owners. When they are ready to buy it, the mortgage lender refuses to lend Manan the promised amount. Manan's father agrees to help.

Manan asks Abhilasha to wear a revealing dress for the house-warming party, but she is reluctant and wears a sari. They argue after the party, and Manan joins Deep and Siddharth at a club. He meets the drunk Ria Oberoi, and helps her to her hotel room. Abhilasha looks for Manan at the hotel, and Deep keeps him from being caught with Ria.

Manan's family travel to Mumbai for Holi and to surprise the couple. The next morning, Seema catches her intoxicated son trying to kiss his wife in public and slaps him. Disappointed in her son and daughter-in-law, she takes over the household. Unable to be alone with his wife, Manan reserves a hotel room and tells Abhilasha to meet him. Riddhi sprains her ankle, however, and Abhilasha cannot go.

The new managing director of Manan's company is Ria Oberoi, who thinks Manan assaulted her at the hotel. Although he tells her the truth, she does not believe him. Tension grows between Abhilasha and Manan, whom Ria forces to work at her home. Unaware that Manan is married, Ria becomes attracted to him and woos him with gifts and a promotion. When she proposes to him and he indirectly refuses, she vows to force him to marry her.

While Seema advises Abhilasha on winning her husband back, Manan (fearful for his job) begins an affair with Ria. To sabotage their first date, Siddharth sends Samyukta with Riddhi and Abhilasha to the cafe. When Ria visits Manan, he introduces Abhilasha as his sister-in-law. After he leaves for work, Siddharth visits Abhilasha and tells her that Manan and Ria have left for Pune.
