Her first exposure to Philippine pop charts was on year 1978 when she was yet 12 years old, singing the song “Mr. DJ”. The tune became an instant success and garnered her as D.J.’s Pet, which was the name also of her first album. Other hit albums followed and more movie soundtracks were sung by her. She became the first “Movie Soundtrack Star” of the country.

Sharon was the first one to sell out at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium in year 1988 and her latest concert was on June 11, 2005. She even made a traffic jam at Los Angeles which puzzled its mayor, Tom Bradley who was curious and after finding out her success and watched her concert, gave her an Honorary Key to the City of Los Angeles.

A duet also made on 2001 with Andy Lao, a famous Hong Kong star singing “In Your Eyes” composed by Jim Brickman. "All I Ever Want" reached no. 20 on the Top 30 Charts of HMV, a hip music store in Hong Kong. "In Your Eyes," debuted at no. 8 on the charts of RTHK, Hong Kong's no. 1 radio

In 2002, at age 36, Cuneta was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Board of Directors of the Phil. Association of Recording Industry via the Dangal ng Musikang Plilipino Award on her 25th years in music industry.

After her first appearance, she appeared on almost 50 films and became “The Box Office Queen” of the country for 8 years (1985- 1993). Her personality, intellect & humor suit the taste of the Filipino people ranging from social-rich people to simple masses.
