Plot

Shin'ichi Kanō is a young secluded otaku who is offered a job thanks to his vast knowledge of anime, manga and video games. However, just after meeting his new employer, he is kidnapped, awakening in an alternate world with a fantasy setup. Shin'ichi is then informed that he was in fact selected by the Japanese government to help improve his country's relations with this new world by establishing a company to spread the unique products of the Japanese culture to this new, unexplored market.

Main characters

Shin'ichi Kanō (加納 慎一, Kanō Shin'ichi)
Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae, Maaya Uchida (childhood) (Japanese); Tyler Galindo (English) Shin'ichi is the protagonist. He decides to look for a job in order to escape the hikikomori lifestyle he had fallen into after entering high school, but as a result he ends up employed in spreading otaku culture for the Holy Eldant Empire. He is a hardcore otaku who is true and honest to his interests.
Myucel Foaran (ミュセル・フォアラン, Myuseru Foaran)
Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori (Japanese); Juliet Simmons (English) Myucel is a half-elf who is Shin'ichi's maid in the Holy Eldant Empire. Having no discrimination at her origins, Shin'ichi quickly befriends Myucel and starts teaching her the Japanese language. In response to his kindness, Myucel eventually falls in love with him and becomes his most trusted supporter. Myucel is a powerful mage who was trained in the Eldant military.
Petralka Anne Eldant III (ペトラルカ・アン・エルダント三世, Petoraruka An Erudanto Sansei)
Voiced by: Mai Fuchigami (Japanese); Kira Vincent-Davis (English) Despite looking like a child, she is about Shin'ichi's age and is the monarch of the Eldant Empire. She takes an interest in Shin'ichi after seeing how casually he speaks with her and starts visiting him on a regular basis to have him read manga for her which in turn causes her to develop deep feelings for him. Petralka usually complains at Myucel out of jealousy due to her closeness with Shin'ichi and asks him to teach her the Japanese language as well.

Others

Minori Koganuma (古賀沼 美埜里, Koganuma Minori)
Voiced by: Maaya Uchida (Japanese); Genevieve Simmons (English) A well-endowed member of the JSDF assigned to help Shin'ichi with his task of spreading the otaku culture in Eldant. Minori is also an otaku but unlike him, she is a fujoshi specialized in boys-love merchandise and usually fantasizes about Shin'ichi with Garius becoming a couple.
Elbia Hanaiman (エルビア・ハーナイマン, Elbia Hānaiman)
Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka (Japanese); Sara Ornelas (English) A werewolf, who was suspected as a spy from the neighboring Bahailm Kingdom. She develops a crush on Shin'ichi and once attacked him while in heat because of it. She is entrusted as Shin'ichi's personal artist.
Jinzaburō Matoba (的場 甚三郎, Matoba Jinzaburō)
Voiced by: Keiji Fujiwara (Japanese); Andy McAvin (English) The man from the Japanese Government who hires Shin'ichi to the task of spreading the Japanese culture in Eldant. However, he only reveals him the true nature of his mission after having him drugged and taken away from Earth.

Voiced by: Shinichiro Miki (Japanese); Chris Patton (English) Petralka's cousin and a knight. His and Petralka's parents fought for the throne which ended with their mutual deaths, leaving Petralka to become a ruler despite being a child.
