Ninam ( निनाम ) is a census village in the Satara district, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is surrounded by a Big Mountain. There is a big temple of Jyotirlinga at the center of Village.It is a village surrounded by natural beauty with greenery of farms all around. Agriculture is the main land use in the village with more than 75% of the total area being used for agricultural activities. The village has a close view to the historic ajinkyatara fort. It is situated North side of Ninam Village.

Ninam is a large village located in Satara of Satara district, Maharashtra with total 650 families residing. As of 2011 India census, has population of 2865 of which 1389 are males while 1476 are females as per Population Census 2011.

Ninam is a village in Satara Taluka in Satara District of Maharashtra State, India. It belongs to Desh or Paschim Maharashtra region and to Pune Division. It is located 23 km towards South from district headquarters Satara, 46 km from Karad, 266 km from state capital Mumbai. Pin code is 415519 and post office is Padali (Satara). Sonapur (3 km), Mandave (4.5 km), Padali (3.3 km), Dolegaon ( 4.3 km ), Bhatmarali ( 5 km ), Kusavade ( 4.5 km ), are the nearby villages to Ninam. Ninam is surrounded by Satara Taluka towards North Satara Taluka, Karad Taluka towards South, Koregaon Taluka towards east, Patan Taluka towards west.

The Occupation of the village is mainly Agriculture and people used to do it. Some people are in the Politics,Army,Government administration, Education Field etc.But In this Village Most Young Generation Working In design Field. Like Piping, HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Electrical, Mechanical engineering field. there are around till year 2016. more than 200 Draughtsman in above mentioned field. mostly people working in Mumbai, Pune, & Arab states of the Persian Gulf.

Farmers are taking crops in their farm Season wise :-

Major crops (irrigated) are rice, Wheat, Gram, Sugarcane, Groundnut for 5 to 6 months (Except Sugar cane).

Major crops (non irrigated) are Sorghum Kharif and Rabi, Jawar, Groundnut for 3 to 4 months.

Major cash crops cultivated are Ginger (Ale) and Sugarcane (ऊस) for around 10 to 12 months.

Besides there is a wide cultivation of fruits like Mangoes and bananas. also cultivation of Flower like Gerbera, Dianthus caryophyllus, Chrysanthemum etc.

Temples

Jyotiba temple is situated at a center of Ninam Village dedicated to Jyotiba. The temple is 24 km South-West of Satara (city). According to the tradition, the original Jyotirling temple was built. In 1730, built the present temple in its place. This shrine is very Specious also having around the temple strong 15 feet height of wall including the spire.near to north side of Jyotirling Temple there is Hanuman temple.The second temple of Jalav Jotiba is situated at Jyotirling Nagar (Ninam) around 600 meter from Ninam Village of West side.This shrine was constructed by Villagers in 2010.The interior of the temple is designed newly but that looks like ancient. There are other few temples and Light-towers in the premises.there is many temple in Ninam Lakshmi mata, Bhavani mata, Shiva, Vithoba & Rukmini Temple Rama, Lakshmana, Sita Temple etc.

Festival

On Hanuman Jayanti of Hindu calendar, a big fair is held, before Ninam fair all villagers going to Wadi Ratnagiri in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra state in western India. The deity of the temple is known by the same name, and is held by the locals to be an incarnation of three gods: Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesha, and Jamadagni. An annual fair takes place on the full moon night of the Hindu months of Chaitra

and Vaishakha. that first place sasan stick established by Ninam (Padali) village when Many of devotees come with tall (Sasan) sticks. Due to scattering of ‘Gulal’ the whole mountain is turned pink. Being Sunday is day dedicated to Jyotiba, there is always rush over there. after completed Wadi Ratnagiri Fair all Villagers bringing back (Sasan Stick) at Padali Ninam of their Village fair timing for Pray

Food

The cuisine that the people there usually eat is very spicy and it includes Bhakri, rice, Harbara i.e. Gram Dal and vegetables like Fenugreek, Brinjal etc. Non-vegetarians prefer mutton, chicken, eggs at rare instances. The well goes with food here normally are papads specially made of Sago for fasting members, Kharda (खरडा), a ground green chilly paste fried with onion and garlic paste is here to be found. Kanda Bhaji, Misal, vada pav and Bhel are one of the most fond snacks and are part of the local breakfast. Kandi Peda is also a looked upon and a want more for the people who have a sweet tooth similarly locally made Sevai served with hot milk and jaggery is also a part of the local desert. Groundnuts boiled in hot salted water and sun dried are some of the favorite local pastimes. Chakulya (चकुल्या), a local delicacy made of wheat flour strips cut and put into a spicy dal well served with rice and some Ghee, is only made and found there.

Climate and rainfall

The climate in general is moderate with temperatures during the summer months (March to mid June) reaching a maximum of 34 °C, and in the winter months (November to March) dropping to 12 °C.The climate is pleasant during the summer, but is very cold during the monsoon. Orelse the climate is moderate for the remaining months. The monsoon period starts in the month of June with the maximum precipitation in July and August. Total rainfall is 3104 mm .The Sahyadri hill ranges -chiefly in Mahabaleshwar tahsil - in the western extremity receive more than 6000 mm. Patan and Jawali tahsils also have rainfall in excess of 2000 mm. Moving eastwards the rainfall amount drops to less than 600 mm in the tahsils of Koregaon, Karad, Satara.

Soil

Black cotton soil is the predominant soil type found there as is the case with most of the districts on the Deccan Plateau. Lateritic soil covers many parts of the western tahsils of Satara,Mahabaleshwar, Javali, Wai and Patan, is typically clayey in nature and reddish in color. Soil fertility is especially high around the Village Farm.
