Nicolas Chartier (born 1974) is a French, Academy Award winning producer and sales agent. He has been involved in the financing, production, and distribution of over five hundred films. In 2005, he founded Voltage Pictures alongside Dean Devlin -- an international financing, sales, and production operation. Chartier and Voltage splashed onto the Hollywood scene with their first in-house production, The Hurt Locker (2009), directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The Hurt Locker went on to win 6 Academy Awards, including one for Best Motion Picture of the Year.

Career
Chartier was a 20-year-old when he sold his first screenplay to a US film producer. It was not made, but it paid for his one-way ticket to Los Angeles. Chartier scraped by, making a living writing ultra-low budget cable TV and quickly transitioned into becoming a foreign sales agent. Under the guidance of producer, Alain Siritzky, he learned the foreign sales market.
Chartier’s persistence paid off, becoming VP of sales and acquisitions at Myriad Pictures. While at Myriad Pictures he was involved in the sale of a diverse range of films such as, The Good Girl and Van Wilder. As the President of Vortex Pictures he sold titles such as, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Nicolas Cage’s, Sonny. As head of sales and acquisitions at Arclight Films -- Chartier acquired the 2006 Academy Award Winner, Crash and The Matador, starring Pierce Brosnan. During his time at Arclight, Chartier also sold Lord of War, starring Nicolas Cage and The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino.
After the success of The Hurt Locker, Voltage Pictures second production was Killer Joe, directed by William Friedkin and starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch . Shortly after, Chartier executive produced Dallas Buyers Club, which won the Academy Awards for Best Actor for Matthew McConaughey and Best Supporting Actor for Jared Leto . Chartier went onto executive produce Charlie Countryman, directed by 4-time nominated DGA director Frederik Bond, starring Shia LaBeouf. Chartier also produced Don Jon, directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson. In 2015, Sony Pictures Entertainment picked up the thriller Keep Watching, produced by Voltage Pictures starring Bella Thorne.
More recently, at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, STX Films picked up Voltage Pictures, I Feel Pretty starring Amy Schumer and Michelle Williams.
