Mohit Suri, (born 1981) is an Indian film director, most known for his films, Kalyug (2005) and Awarapan (2007). He has directed 3 quasi-sequels Raaz - The Mystery Continues (2009), Murder 2 (2011), Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Ek Villain (2014), all of these proved to be commercial successes.

Early life
Suri was born and brought up in Mumbai. His father worked for Dunlop in Chennai and his mother was an air hostess. He has one sister, former actress Smiley Suri. Through his mother, Suri is related to several film personalities: her brothers are the film-makers Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Robin Bhatt, while her sister Sheila Sabharwal is the wife of producer Darshan Sabharwal and mother of film-makers Suneel Darshan and Dharmesh Darshan. He is also related to actor Emraan Hashmi and director Milan Luthria. Thus, among Suri's cousins are Pooja, Vishesh, Rahul, Alia and Emraan. Actress Soni Razdan is his aunt by marriage.
Career
Before venturing into film direction, Mohit worked as an office assistant for T-Series, and as an assistant director to Vikram Bhatt
He started his career as an assistant director, and made his debut as a director with the 2005 film Zeher which was a moderate success. He followed it up with Kalyug, which was both a critical and commercial success. His third film Woh Lamhe (2006) did well and received critical acclaim.
His next film Awarapan (2007) was both a critical and commercial success. It was a copy of the Korean film 'A Bittersweet Life' from 2005. Ironically, Mohit, in an interview given to Radio Sargam, said, "I am very critical about my own work. I would never ever go out and say that I have made a masterpiece. I just give my best and hope that it's good enough." His preceding film Crook, based on the racial attacks on Indian students in Australia was released in 2010. Murder 2, which turned out to be a Blockbuster, a sequel to the 2004 film Murder was released on 8 July 2011.
In 2013, he directed Aashiqui 2 which was a blockbuster. In 2014, he directed Ek Villain which ran successfully and went past the 1 billion mark at box office.
In 2015, he directed his next movie, Hamari Adhuri Kahani. He is working with Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the upcoming movie Half Girlfriend as a director which is based on a famous novel by Chetan Bhagat. He debuted on small screen from Nach Baliye 8 as one on of the judges of the show.

Personal life
Mohit Suri married actress Udita Goswami on 29 January 2013. They have a daughter named 'Devi'.
