Principal photography commenced in June 2016 and filming locations include Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Dumraon, Varanasi, New York City and Cape Town. The film released worldwide on 19 May 2017.

Plot
This movie begins with Madhav Jha who gets admission in a college through sports quota. He meets Riya Somani and falls in love with her at their first Meeting. Riya, however wants to maintain a good friendship with Madhav. Madhav, pressured by his friends, tries to force Riya into being his girlfriend and being physical. Riya feels hurt and moves apart. Madhav apologises for his deed but is ignored by Riya because of his previous stupidity.
Later, during a college event, Madhav meets Riya and apologises again. However, Riya doesn't react much and gives him the card of her wedding - she is getting married to a family friend, Rohan. Madhav loses all his emotions and is deeply hurt, and moves back to Simraon, his hometown, to help his mother, Rani Sahiba, who runs a school.
One day he gets to know that Riya is in Patna for some reason and rushes to meet her, finally reuniting with her. He notices she is not her own self anymore. She tells Madhav that she divorced Rohan because he used to physically abuse her so she left him and has come to Patna for a job. Madhav tells her that Bill Gates is here to visit his school and he needs to prepare a speech for his welcome. Riya helps him and he manages to deliver a brilliant speech in the annual even though he is quite bad at English.
Because of his amazing speech, he is surrounded by a group of people and by the time he gets over them, he realises that Riya is missing. He gets a letter from his students written by Riya that she has lung cancer and can only survive a few months. Madhav breaks down into tears and goes in search of her. After a lot of attempts, he finds himself alone and Riya, nowhere. After a few years, he meets Chetan Bhagat in Patna who shows him the journal written by Riya. He remembers that Riya often told him that she wanted to be a singer in the clubs of New York.
He finds himself in New York in his college friends' house. He had an internship of three months and had to find Riya by that time. However, after so many attempts, he fails to find her. Finally, he hears from someone that Riya is a singer in the club so far. In the cold weather of -6° C, he runs an amazing six miles and finally finds his love. He entered the club and crossing the crowd reaches the stage and looks into the eyes of the beauty whose eyes were looking into his. He felt out of the world. Both of them cried in the happiness of uniting and return to Dumraon. They live together and run the school and have a girl.

Production
Film went into production in March 2016. Prominent shooting locations included St. Stephen's College in New Delhi and Times Square and the UN Headquarters in New York City. The basketball action in the film is by Rob Miller, NBA and the ReelSports team. Around 200 students from different colleges were roped in to play extras as some of the scenes demand Delhi University students in the film. The trailer was released on April 10.
Box office
The film was released on 19 May 2017 worldwide. The film collected 10 crore on its opening day and 10.4 crore on second day. On its first weekend, the total collection was noted as 32 crore. On its second weekend, the total collection of the film stood at 54 crores.. The final recorded earnings of the film stands at 64 crore domestically and 25 crore outside India.
Soundtrack
The film score is composed by Raju Singh who has composed for all of Mohit Suri's previous films. The songs featured in the film are composed by Mithoon, Tanishk Bagchi, Rishi Rich, Farhan Saeed, Ami Mishra and Rahul Mishra while the lyrics have been written by Manoj Muntashir, Arafat Mehmood, Tanishk Bagchi, Laado Suwalka, Anushka Shahaney, R. Rekhi, Veronica Mehta, Yash Anand, Yash Narvekar and Ishita Moitra Udhwani.
The soundtrack album; which includes 10 songs; was released on 28 April 2017 by Zee Music Company. The other songs were not included in the album but were released after the release of the film. The album includes a duet by Shreya Ghoshal and Farhan Saeed; "Thodi Der"; which is the recreated version of the Saeed's single of same name.
