Gurholi (गुरोळी) is a village in Purandar Taluka, India, with an economy based mainly on agriculture where fruits such as figs, custard apples, and pomegranates are produced. The village is surrounded by three mountains, and has a number of temples among the mountains.

Gurholi is 21 kilometers from Jejuri, 18 kilometers from Saswad, and 16 kilometers from Uruli Kanchan.

Gurholi has a large population of Khedekar (Konde Deshmukh) family, who originate from Khed Shivapur, Haveli taluka, and are also present in Khamgaon, Daund takula.

History

According to sources of our old generation, Gurholi village name is derived from the then native gurav people. Gurav is one community in Hindu religion. About 200 year ago near 1800 A.D. Konde people came to this place from Khed Shivapur area. Native Gurav people allowed them to live here. Honour of this permission konde people kept Gurholi name of this place and the konde people who came from Khed shivapur changed their surname to Khedekar. Many of people here had joined with Narvir UmaJi Naik and his movement of Independence from The then British Raj.

Geography

Gurholi is located at 18°24′19″N 74°5′39″E. It has an average elevation of 700 metres (2303 feet). It is bordered by Walti and Alandi mhatobachi town on the North, Sonawari town on the West Vanpuri and Pargaon town on the South, Waghapur and Singapur town on the West. It is situated at a distance of 160 km from the Maharashtra State Capital of Mumbai by road. Gurholi is at a distance of 30 km from District main City Pune and 70 km from Baramati. Gurholi is at a distance of 18 km from Taluka main city Saswad and 21 km from Jejuri and 16  from Uruli Kanchan. Gurholi is situated on Deccan plateau.

It has good connectivity with nearby cities like Saswad, Uruli and jejuri. It is the village which lies in the MIddle region of the Pune district of Maharashtra state. It is 3 km far away from State highway no SH-61.The local language spoken in Guroli is Marathi.

    There is bus available from Saswad S.T. stand to Gurholi which departs in the noon at 11.30 And 8.00 pm daily, apart from this buses you have to come to Waghapur chaufula by any mean such as public & Private transport and turn to Gurholi where u could get auto rikshwa & private vehicles also. (Buses running on routes from Saswad are Yawat, Uruli Kanchan, Darekar (Tamhanwadi)wadi & from Uruli to Saswad)

The monsoon lasts from June to end of September, with moderate rainfall. Winter months are October to January.

    Since last 15 years Custard Apple have acquired dominance on the agricultural economy of Village. Due to water shortage in Gurholi the farmers have shifted to pomegranate from Fig and Paddy. Some progressive farmers are cultivating flowers in greenhouses and farms.
