Chalkusha is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Barhi subdivision of Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

History

Chalkusha was created a new block in 2009, after long fight of the residents of the Chalkusha,Alagdiha, Choubey, Salaidih, Chatkari, Palma, Baradih and the residents of the areas, they protested on several occasions and in year 2007 an massive protests was organised by the non political and political groups over 200 people had participated in Ranchi including former MLA, Chitranjan Yadav, sitting MLA Janki Yadav, Jaidev Choudhary, social activist Birendra Pandey and many more eminent persons have fought for Chalkusha Block .

Chalkusha is located at 24°14′39″N 85°44′11″E.

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Chalkusha CD Block had a total population of 52,068, all of which were rural. There were 26,952 males and 25,116 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 7,224 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 784.

Literacy & Famous Person

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Chalkusha CD Block was 28,499 out of which 17,969 were males and 10,530 were females and Chalkusha Village consisting highly educated village of the area.

The Chalkusha Block has many famous Politicians and Activist like Late Chitranjan Yadav, MLA, and his on Amit Yadav, MLA, Janki Yadav, sitting MLA from Chatkari Village, Satya Prakash, famous RTI activist and Advocate, Delhi High Court and her wife Smt. Punam Prakash, Managing Editor, Legal Boundary, News Magazine published from Delhi belongs from Chalkusha, active politician, Jaidev Choudhry and young leader Alok Singh are the famous personalities.
