Bettada Hoovu (English: Mountain Flower) is a 1985 Indian Kannada language film directed by N. Lakshminarayan and produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar. The movie is based on popular novel What then, Raman?(Pinneyo Rama?) by Shirley L Arora.

Plot

The movie revolves with childhood days of boy Ramu which played by actor Puneet Rajkumar. Ramu born to a poor family works in a guesthouse where foreigner who came on a trip stayed. He is fond of reading Kannada books. Ramu wants to study to support his family but the situation of family is not in favor. Ramu has one ambition of his life is to purchase Sri Ramayana Darshanam written by Kuvempu. He starts saving money by selling wild flowers (hence the movie title) to a botanist. But the situations bring him to make a decision whether to buy a book or buy a blanket to protect his family members from chilling winter cold. What follows is a tale of shattered dreams.
