Radio

RTM was established as Radio Malaya operating out of Singapore on 1 April 1946 and Federation of Malaya (now Malaysia) gains its independence from the United Kingdom on 31 August 1957.

RTM was split into 2-radio stations such: the original studios in Singapore was taken over by a new station called as Radio Singapura, and Radio Malaya moved to Kuala Lumpur going on air from the new location on 1 January 1959.

Suara Malaysia it was officially inaugurated on 15 February 1963 with 3-languages: English, Chinese and Indonesian.

The 2nd stage of the Wisma Radio a radio center was officially opened to public on 9 May 1972.

Televisyen Pendidikan Malaysia is an education television network in Malaysia a subsidiary of Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia was officially opened to public by the 2nd Prime Minister of Malaysia's Tun Abdul Razak Bin Hussein Al-Haj and 5th Menteri Pelajar Malaysia's Tun Hussein Bin Dato Onn on 19 June 1972.

RTM on TV1 began the first colour television transmission via satellite. Transmission started on 31 December 1978 with the first colour programmes for Peninsular Malaysia to celebrate its 15th anniversary of television broadcasts. The first colour programme broadcast was Puspawarna.

TV2 began the first colour television signal was television transmitter via satellite transmission took place on 7 May 1969 by the first colour programmes for Peninsular Malaysia began to broadcast in full colour.

Features

Angkasapuri Broadcasting Centre is located in Kuala Lumpur City Hall. The building was erected with a height of 10-floors above the vast area of about 33-acres and on the Federal Highway linking Kuala Lumpur to Petaling jaya. Seven levels are reserved for office use. Each floor has an area of 11.000 square feet. In this building the administrative work and planning is done for publishing and broadcasting. To the south of this building is a 2-storey building used for the work of publishing and broadcasting. In this building there are several recording studios and the broadcast room; it is here that the plans are published and television stations. Both 7-storey blocks of the administration building and 2-level division publishing and broadcasting is connected by a porch and a reception hall to be a broadcast of the largest complex in Southeast Asia.

  • Wisma Radio – served for radio stations such: Klasik Nasional FM (Malay), Muzik FM (Malay), TraXX FM (English), Ai FM (Chinese), Minnal FM (Tamil), Asyik FM (Indigenous) and Voice of Malaysia (International) it was officially opened to public on 9 May 1972.
  • Bangunan Rentak 50 – served for Radio and Television of Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra.
  • International Broadcast Centre (IBC) – RTM's engineering department and other departments are located to initially only used for foreign international broadcast stations it was opened on 1 January 1988.
