Opened in 2012 by Executive Chef/Owner Michael Beckman, along with partner Joseph Mourani, the much-admired restaurant features ever changing nightly dinner and Sunday brunch menus accompanied by a one-of-a-kind bar program. In addition to his endeavours at Workshop Kitchen + Bar, Beckman's previous experience includes the three Michelin 3-star restaurants Lameloise, L'Institute Paul Bocuse, and Ritz Carlton, Berlin.

The team is also headed by bar managers Dave Castillo and Michelle Bearden, Chef de Cuisine Max Becker and Assistant General Manager/ Sommelier Sean Jemai.

Design

Located in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs, Workshop Kitchen + Bar is the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award winner for Best Restaurant Design, created by renowned architecture firm SOMA. Originally an art gallery then later a city council then movie theatre, the building contains 27-foot ceilings, manipulated by SOMA to devise an industrial aesthetic using poured concrete, yet at the same time, create a light and open space. Seating is available via high stools at the bar, private booths, and a signature communal table running the length of the space. Seating 74, the courtyard offers an additional dining experience, with views of the historic building with Spanish-eclectic elements. Workshop also features a semi-private dining room for 12 – 18 guests with direct views to the lively main dining area and courtyard spaces.

Farms & Philanthropy

Workshop Kitchen + Bar features a market-driven menu comprised of seasonal food highlights harvested from local farms within an hour of Palm Springs. These farms include Weiser Farms, T&D Farms, Temecula Valley Honey Co., County Line Farms, Wong Farms, Ha’s Apple Farm, Crow’s Pass Farm, Harry’s Berries, as well as locally foraged citrus, olives, herbs and flowers.

Dedicated to food, drink, design and community, Workshop Kitchen + Bar takes pride in its philanthropic efforts. Over the years, the restaurant has participated in the Palm Springs Historical Society, the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Other philanthropic efforts include donations to the Boys & Girls Club, KCRW 89.9FM, the Pendleton Foundation, Palm Springs High School, and Rancho Mirage High School.
