History

The Ontario Jockey Club was founded in 1881 to improve the quality of horse racing in the city. William Hendrie, President of the Ontario Jockey Club, and of the Hendrie Co., Limited, was a railway promoter and capitalist.

In the 19th century, the city had a few other racetracks. The OJC once operated from the Greenwood Race Track, a facility once called Woodbine Race Track.

Now Woodbine Entertainment Group is partners with the new Connect Equipment Corporation, which supplies Woodbine with all of their Massey Ferguson tractor needs.
