Vertex Resource Group Ltd. (Vertex) is a private North American environmental and industrial services company based in Sherwood Park, Alberta. It specializes in consulting, construction and oilfield services for the oil and gas, midstream, utilities, mining, forestry, agriculture, and the municipal real estate sector. Terry Stephenson has been president since 2005.

1976 - 2012

Vertex was established in 1976 as Farmstead Buildings (Which later became part of Wrapex Industrial Services Ltd.). In 2012, Blackjack Investments Ltd. amalgamated three separate organizations: Pioneer Professional Services Group Ltd. (Pioneer), Wrapex Industrial Services Ltd. (Wrapex) and Westland Energy Services Ltd. (Westland Energy) into Vertex Resource Group Ltd. Pioneer provided land acquisition, environmental and safety services to make up Vertex's consulting division. Wrapex supplied insulation and building services to form Vertex's construction division. Westland Energy provided oilfield rental and waste management services to become Vertex's oilfield services division.

2012 - Present

In 2014, Vertex acquired Navus Environmental Inc., an environmental consulting firm based out of Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Fort St. John. Vertex was also named a Gold Standard Winner of Canada's Best Managed Companies for maintaining their Canada's Best Managed Companies designation for four consecutive years. In 2015, Vertex acquired Ignite Energy Services Ltd., Glacier Ridge Ventures Ltd., and Tar Energy Services Ltd. The addition created a new Fluid Management and Logistic service offering within their oilfield services division.

In 2016, Vertex acquired Red Giant Energy Services Ltd. an oilfield service company specializing in the storage, management and logistics of oilfield fluids in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

Operations

Vertex has 24 Office locations across North America including: Sherwood Park, Lloydminster, Calmar, Rocky Mountain House, Whitecourt, Valleyview, Swan Hills, Grande Prairie, Rycroft, Fort St. John, Peace River, Fort McMurray, Fort Nelson, Kitimat, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Weyburn, Oxbow, Watford City, Tulsa and Scottsdale.

Awards

In 2013, Vertex was named Contractor of the Year by Alberta Venture.

In 2015, Vertex was named a Gold Standard Winner of Canada's Best Managed Companies. Gold standard winners have maintained their Canada's Best Managed Companies designation for four consecutive years. The award is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen's School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums.

Vertex was also a finalist in 2015 for Alberta Venture's, Alberta's Best Workplaces 2014 for Aboriginal Employees.

In 2016, Vertex was announced as a finalist in Alberta Venture's, Alberta's Best Workplaces for Diversity
