Steamed meatball is a common Cantonese dim sum dish. It is popular in Hong Kong and most overseas Chinatowns. The meatballs are usually made of beef, water chestnut and coriander, and has a layer of tofu skin at the bottom. It is generally served with Worcestershire sauce (Chinese: 喼汁; Cantonese Yale: gīp jāp; pinyin: jiézhī).

History

The meatball is originally from Muslims, while during the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, there are numerous Muslims from Arabic reside in Guangzhou.
