At the age of 4, Shweta worked with Indian composer, Ilayaraja for the award-winning film Anjali, which was re-recorded in Hindi. She dubbed for the lead role in the film in Hindi. making her one of the youngest singers in the Bollywood Music Industry.
She had her breakthrough with Yash Raj Films and Aditya Chopra's Mohabbatein (2000) with five songs at the age of 12. She was chosen to sing in the film, after she auditioned for the final selection among almost 500 singers. Her debut record album "Main Zindagi Hoon" released when she was only 16 years old with EMI Virgin Records, India. Becoming the youngest Indian-Pop star. She released 3 videos from this album, featuring herself. Her other albums include "Aplam Chaplam. She sang and featured for various television commercials.
In 2012, she sang her first Tamil song for the movie Vettai for composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. and "Billa II" and "Aadhi bhagavan" getting her the finest reviews for her renditions. In 2011, Shweta collaborated with popular Punjabi singer and actor Harbhajan Mann for the song Sun Mere Chann Mahiya for the album Heer Ranjha (OST). Shweta also did the playback for Punjabi films.
Shweta won her 1st Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2009 for Telugu hit Kotha Bangaru Lokam for the song "Nenani Neevani" by Mickey J Meyer. She also won the Radio Mirchi Best Female Playback Singer for her 1st Tamil hit solo "Idhayam" from Billa 2 and the [MAA Award]] for Telugu Best Female Playback Singer 2013 for the Nagarjuna starrer Shirdi Sai for the song "Amararama" composed by Keeravani.
Her first reality television show as a playback singer in 2008, Mission Ustaad on Channel 9x, was produced by the United Nations and judged by A. R. Rahman and Javed Akhtar. The show was one of the biggest television series presented by the United Nations and had accomplished singers from Bollywood performing together for various causes for the United Nations.
Shweta is currently the host and presenter of Asia's Singing Superstar in 2016 with Pakistani actor Ahsan Khan a singing talent show, telecasted in Dubai, Pakistan and several Asian countries, judged by Shankar Mahadevan and Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan on ZEE TV and GEO TV

In 2009-10: Shweta Pandit became part as lead vocalist/performer for 2009 Oscar Winner, A R Rahman's – "Jai Ho Journey Home Concert – World Tour". Performing with the Music Legend as a leading vocalist, around the world, including India, Australia, US, UK and the Middle East and Asia.
Shweta performed the track "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire with AR Rahman at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2010 in Oslo, Norway, hosted by Denzel Washington and Anne Hathaway.
Shweta also featured as the lead vocalist for the grand IPL (Indian Premiere League) Opening Ceremony 2016 with American Music Producers [[Major Lazer) performing their No.1 Hit "Lean On" to a live TV audience of over a million people.
Shweta Pandit Productions has also released the debut album of her sister Shrradha Pandit's Teri Heer in October 2008, with Sony Music, India. She featured in the Coca-Cola Commercial (TVC) featuring Cricketer Gautam Gambhir and directed by film maker Dibakar Banerjee. Here other commercials include Greenlam Laminates directed by National Award-winning director Ram Madhvani who praised her for her comic timing in the commercial.
She acted in David, directed by Bejoy Nambiar.
She has also acted with Anil Kapoor in 24 (Indian TV series), directed by Abhiney Deo on Colors channel. In 2015, she did a powerful role as Madhu, with actor Sara Loren in Barkhaa.
