History

Founded in 2002 and privately funded, Selatra was one of the first games aggregators in the market to provide Over The Air (OTA) download technology for mobile games. Originally Selatra focused on the ‘Off-Portal’ space and gained a very significant foothold across EMEA markets. Selatra enabled 3rd party retailers the opportunity to plug into a purpose built OTA download platform and content reservoir immediately.

In 2005 the company took on board venture capital partners to develop and drive growth in the business.

Selatra Technology

Selatra has developed a suite of purpose-built tools to manage the following servies for operators, publishers and retailers:

Over-The-Air Download, Device Recognition, Handset Optimization, Dynamic Site Updates, Web/WAP Site Publishing, Content Management, Real-Time Reporting & Analysis, 3rd Party Upload/Publishing, Licensing and Distribution, Content Discovery, XML and RSS Feed Management,

Selatra has the ability to monitor downloads as they happen and protect against copyright theft and fraudulent reporting of royalties. Selatra’s channels have to request every download from their system by sending a secure HTTP Request. The download is made to the end user’s mobile phone directly from Selatra’s server. This allows the number of downloads made to be monitored accurately and checked against royalty reports.

Acquisition by SpoiledMilk

On May 20, 2011, Spoiled Milk announced its agreement to acquire Selatra. Following the acquisition of THQ Wireless carrier operations in February, SpoiledMilk will continue to roll out new services from Selatra globally, including on-device-portals for smartphones and feature phones, managed carrier solutions, and further powering publishers and content providers across smartphones and feature phones.
