Richard Padovan (born 1935) is an architect, author, translator and lecturer. In the 1950s he studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture; he has practised architecture in several European countries, and taught at the University of Bath. The Padovan sequence, a sequence of numbers with properties similar to the Fibonacci numbers, is named after him despite the fact that in Padovan's 1994 essay Dom. Hans van der Laan : Modern Primitive he attributed the sequence to Hans van der Laan. Padovan is also the author of the books Proportion: science, philosophy, architecture (1999) and Towards universality: Le Corbusier, Mies, and De Stijl (2002).
