Rampuram (రామాపుర౦) is a village of the Kanaganapalle mandal in Anantapur District of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Etymology
As the village is built around the Temple of Lord Gosaramudu (గోసారాముడు గుడి), the village got the name of Rampuram,
History
There is no documented proof of when the village is established, but the geographical location of the village explains that around 150–200 years back some shepherds settled on the bank of small river and built the village around the temple of lord Gosaramudu (గోసారాముడు గుడి).
There is also the Temple of Hanuman (ఆ౦జనేయసామి గుడి) on the outskirts of the village as the symbol of protecting the village from evil and demons, but as the time passed the village expanded.
Governance
There are around 150 houses in the village which are divided into two wards. The population is approximately 600 with 450 voters. There is no separate panchayat for the village as it is too small to maintain. So the village is merged into nearby Kanaganapalle mandal which is in 3 km away. The village has its own primary school and Anganwadi nursery. There is also the DWCRA scheme groups in the village for the development of women and children.
Economy
All the villagers are Hindus, with the major community in the village being the Kuraba caste (BC-B) who occupation is feeding herds of sheep known as Shepherds. The majority of the people organized in agricultural productivity works as farmers. Other communities are Vadderas, Kapus (Reddy) and Harijans. People in the village work as farmers, shepherds and stonecutters. Major crops grown are groundnut and paddy, flowers like sunflower and lily, vegetables like tomato and other crops are grown depending on availability of water.
Milk production is also main source of income for the villagers and only cow milk is available in village; there are no buffaloes in the village due to some local beliefs.
Literacy
There is a great leap in the literacy from the last decade as so many graduates from the village became teachers, engineers, working in Police Department and other private sectors.
Festivals
The main festivals in the village are Dasara, Sankranti and Ugadi. Other festivals like Deepavali, Mohharam and Vinayaka Chavati are also celebrated.
Climate
Rampuram has a semi-arid climate, with hot and dry conditions for most of the year. Summers start in late February and peak in May with average high temperatures around the 37 °C (99 °F) range. Ramapuram gets pre-monsoon showers starting as early as March, mainly through north-easterly winds blowing in from Kerala. Monsoon arrives in September and lasts until early November with about 250 mm (9.8 in) of precipitation. A dry and mild winter starts in late November and lasts until early February; with little humidity and average temperatures in the 22–23 °C (72–73 °F) range. Total annual rainfall is about 22 in (560 mm).
Transport
Dharmavaram is the nearest town to the village 21 km away and Anantapur is 34 km from village. Direct bus is available to Anantapur daily. There is no railway network.
Roads are the main mode of transport. Most of the people use two wheelers to reach the nearby town. The nearest city is Banglore city, 230 km from village.
