Rajat Sharma (born 18 February 1957 in Delhi, India) is the chairman and editor in chief of an Indian Hindi news channel, India TV. He is one of India's most prominent journalists.

Sharma is currently the chairman and editor-in-chief of India TV, as well as host of Aap Ki Adalat and Aaj Ki Baat news bulletin.

Personal life
Rajat Sharma is among the youngest of 6 brothers and one sister. He along with his parents and siblings lived in a single room where there was no facility of water and electricity. In a summit at IIT Bombay he said that "Since there was no electricity in our room, I used to study at Sabzi Mandi railway station during night times where there was light". He also said that "we used to sleep in shift manner as there was no space for everyone in a small 5 by 5 feet room". Rajat Sharma is originally from Delhi and his family lived in poverty. He said that his main inspiration was his father who used to tell him that "If you are rich, you will be happy anyway. You will be great if you can live happily despite of being poor". He attended Sanatan Dharma Middle School till 12th after which he could get admission into Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), one of the premier colleges in the country for commerce studies.He is the former Delhi University Students Union Secretary in 1977 from ABVP. On his first day at college, he met the current union finance minister Arun Jaitley whose friendship remains intact till date. He married TV producer Ritu Dhawan.
Awards
He was conferred with Tarun Kranti Award at Rohini, New Delhi on 23 August 2014 along with Poorva Joshipura, the CEO of PETA.

Sharma has been awarded with Padma Bhushan by Government of India in 2015 in the field of Literature and Education. He has received the Padma Bhushan from President Pranab Mukherjee in March 2015.
India Today magazine ranked him #33rd in India's 50 Most powerful people of 2017 list.
