Entrance Exam Racket

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) unearthed a well-organised cheating racket during an MD entrance examination held on 10 November 2012. The CBI sleuths raided all 11 Chandigarh examination centres and arrested seven girls. Seven youths were rounded up for helping these girls solve the question papers through sophisticated bluetooth devices and mobile phones. In 2010, CBI sleuths had arrested two PGI junior resident doctors who had got admission after clearing the entrance exam with the help of impersonators.

Following a huge outcry over the way the exams were being conducted, the test was scrapped. The Entrance Test was reheld on 8 December 2012 under heavy inspections. Candidates were not allowed to carry any metallic objects(including belts, watches and jewellery). The test centers were protected with bluetooth and cell phone jammers and all candidates were frisked thoroughly before entering the test venue.
