Nick Gomez (born April 13, 1963) is an American film director and writer. He has directed for a number of television and film studios. His first feature-length film was the 1992 movie Laws of Gravity, which won awards at both the Berlin International Film Festival and the Valencia International Film Festival. Gomez's next film was the 1995 crime drama New Jersey Drive, which was screened and competed for a Grand Jury Prize during that year's Sundance Film Festival.

Life and career

Nick Gomez left school in the 6th grade due to assault charges. He ultimately received a high school equivalency diploma and went on to study film at the State University of New York at Purchase. Before directing his own films, Nick Gomez did editing on two films for Hal Hartley.

Edie Falco acted in Gomez's first feature film, Laws of Gravity. Based on this role, producer Tom Fontana hired Edie Falco for roles in his series Homicide: Life on the Street and Oz.

Spike Lee executive produced Gomez's second feature, New Jersey Drive.
