Early life

Coloretti is from the Kapahulu Kaimuki area of Hawaii.

Education

Coloretti attended the 'Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii. holds a B.A. in Economics and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's in Public Policy from University of California, Berkeley.

Treasury Department

Prior to joining the department, Coloretti spent two years as the Assistant Secretary for Management at the United States Department of the Treasury, being officially sworn in on November 16, 2012. In that role she oversaw all operational areas including the development and execution of the Department's budget, performance and strategic planning processes, procurement, human resources, information technology, and the management of Treasury's headquarters and bureaus. Coloretti also served as the Treasury Department's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget. In addition, she helped establish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as its Acting Chief Operating Officer.

Work in San Francisco

Prior to joining the Treasury Department in 2009, Ms. Coloretti spent four years as policy advisor and budget director for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. Ms. Coloretti led the development and implementation of San Francisco's $6 billion annual budget and advised the Mayor on multiple policy areas. Her prior experience includes budget analysis in the Clinton Administration's Office of Management and Budget and for the State of Hawaii, as well as economic and financial consulting.

Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

On March 6, 2014 President Barack Obama nominated Coloretti to be the next United States Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. On December 2, 2014 she was confirmed by the United States Senate by a vote of 68-28.

Awards and recognition

Ms. Coloretti is a recipient of the National Public Service Award, the Public Policy and International Affairs Achievement Award, the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, and the Fed 100 Award.

Personal life

She grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and lives in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and son.
