Mount Kelly is a fully co-educational independent day and boarding school for children between the ages of 3 and 18. The current Head Master is Mark Semmence.

Contents

Mount Kelly was established in June 2014 following the merger of two neighbouring schools, Kelly College (founded in 1877) and Mount House School (founded in 1881).

Location

Mount Kelly is located in Tavistock, Devon, England, and is situated within the Tavy River valley on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, between Exeter and Plymouth. Positioned on the outskirts of the market town of Tavistock the school grounds consist of 140 acres of landscaped grounds, woodland, forest, green fields and a small holding.

Co-curricular activities

Mount Kelly offers a co-curricular activity programme. College pupils can take part in the Combined Cadet Force, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race or the Ten Tors Challenge.

Swimming

The Head Coach is former Olympian Robin Brew. Pupils and alumni have won a total of 29 Olympic and Commonwealth medals over the last 37 years and been selected for the last five Olympic and Paralympic games. Sharron Davies and Andy Jameson are two of its most celebrated swimmers.

In September 2016 Mount Kelly built new 50 metre, 8 lane Olympic Legacy Swimming Pool, financed in part by Sport England and the National Lottery (United Kingdom).

Inspections

The school was last inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in March 2015.
