The Missouri Department of Public Safety is a department of the State of Missouri in the United States. It administers a broad range of the state's public service agencies including the division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, the division of Fire safety, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Missouri National Guard, the Missouri Reserve Military Force, and the Water Patrol and Missouri Capitol Police. The gaming commission is also overseen by the department and is responsible for monitoring bingo and riverboat gambling operations. Additionally, the Missouri Department of Public Safety administers the State Emergency Management Agency(SEMA), which coordinates the response to natural and man-made disasters, and the state office of homeland security.

Missouri State Highway Patrol

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division is the unit of the department most frequently seen by citizens. Uniformed troopers of the highway patrol are responsible for enforcing traffic and criminal law, usually in unincorporated areas, and serve as the uniformed Missouri state police.

Missouri Capitol Police

The Missouri Capitol Police Division is the unit of the department This is split into three shifts and a 6 officer strong Executive Protection Detail responsible for close protection of the state governor and the Governor's Mansion.

Missouri National Guard

The Missouri National Guard Division is the unit of the department less frequently seen by citizens.
