The McCoy Solar Energy Project is a proposed 750 MW solar power station using photovoltaics planned for Riverside County, California, in the Mojave Desert, near Blythe, California. Southern California Edison has agreed to purchase the first 250MW, once completed. McCoy started generating energy in August 2015. The first 250 MW is being constructed using CdTe thin film panels by First Solar with completion expected in 2016. Completing the remaining 500 MW will depend on finding a buyer for the electricity.

The McCoy Solar Energy Project was proposed by NextEra Energy, a publicly listed corporation based in Juno Beach, Florida and listed on the NYSE under the symbol NEE.
