MasterChef Canada is a Canadian competitive cooking show, part of the MasterChef franchise. It premiered on CTV on January 20, 2014. Three judges have been announced for the show: Claudio Aprile, Michael Bonacini and Alvin Leung. The show is produced by Endemol Shine International and Proper Television.

MasterChef Canada also airs Tuesday nights on the Cooking Channel in the United States. The current season airs starting in September of each year in the U.S. It airs also in Italy and Spain.

Plot

Amateur chefs compete to become the best amateur home cook in Canada through challenges issued by Judges Claudio Aprile, Michael Bonacini and Alvin Leung. The format is the same adopted in the US. Winners of MasterChef Canada are awarded with $100,000 and a MasterChef trophy.

  • Michael Bonacini, Welsh-born (of Italian and British heritage) chef and co-owner of Toronto restaurants Jump, Canoe, Luma and Bannock.
  • Alvin Leung, British-born, Canadian-raised chef of Hong Kong heritage and owner of Michelin-starred restaurants Bo Innovation in Hong Kong and Bo London in London, UK.
