In 2009, the format was re-developed in Australia where it was transformed into the current iteration of the programme. This gave the programme a new dynamic.
"it's been the Groundhog Day of cookery shows, continually rebooting to the tutorial level, with a fresh half-dozen contestants reappearing every few days, endlessly spewing into the MasterChef kitchen like consignments of peeping chicks being tossed through the doors of a mass-market chicken-kiev factory by a bloke with a shovel."https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/apr/21/masterchef-charlie-brooker-grimm-fableGordon s lobster demo season 7 ep 6 masterchef
Format
The show's format has been exported around the world under the same MasterChef logo, and is now produced in more than 40 countries and airs in over 200 territories.
The format has appeared in four major versions: the main MasterChef series, MasterChef: The Professionals for professional working chefs, Celebrity MasterChef featuring well known celebrities as the contestants and Junior MasterChef, a version created and adapted for children, which was first developed in 1994 and has also proliferated to other countries outside the UK in recent years. In 2012, Australia created the fifth version called MasterChef All-Stars, for former contestants to raise money for charity.
The revived format is sold internationally by production company, Shine Group.
