History

KKHT signed on the air at 100.9 FM in Jasper, Texas, as a Class A facility with 3 kilowatts of power, and an elevation of 42 meters, in 1988.

In 2004, this station was traded from Univision Communications to Salem in a deal involving six other stations in five U.S. cities (see the WPPN page for details). At the time of sale, 100.7 played Spanish-language music as KOBT "Orbita 100-7". Once Salem acquired the facility, "The Word" programming, that was featured on co-owned 1070 KNTH, was moved to this facility and renamed "100.7 The Word". Concurrently, KNTH launched a new news talk format as "AM 1070 KNTH", standing for News Talk Houston.
