Early history

The Iron Order Motorcycle Club was started in Jeffersonville, IN on July 4, 2004. There were 8 original founding members. In April 2005, the IOMC opened its first Mother Chapter clubhouse in Louisville, KY. By late 2005, the IOMC had grown to 6 chapters, (Louisville, KY; Atlanta, GA; Columbus, IN; Cincinnati, OH; Washington, D.C.; and West Palm Beach, FL) and the IOMC has been growing steadily since, granting new Charters and members nationwide and eventually worldwide. By late 2015 there were over 300 chapters spanning the globe.

Insignia

The Iron Order Motorcycle Club, like most other motorcycle clubs, hold meaning in their insignia. They wear a three-piece patch reminiscent of the original motorcycle clubs of the 1950s and of outlaw motorcycle clubs. This collection of patches is made up of a top rocker saying "Iron Order" a center patch with the club logo "Jughead," a bottom rocker denoting what state the club claims, and a "MC Cube" denoting that they are a Motorcycle Club. They also wear name and position patches, as well as some additional patches such as IOFFIO (Iron Order Forever, Forever Iron Order), MBBM (My Brother Before Me), and the number 8 in a diamond, which stands for the original 8 founders of the club.

Membership

In order to become an Iron Order prospect, candidates must have a valid driver's license, 650 cc or higher, cruiser style motorcycle, good character, and no felony convictions. Along with having the likeness of mind to the Iron Order members.

As in many other motorcycle clubs, after a member is patched-in, the patches themselves remain the property of Iron Order MC rather than the member. On leaving the Iron Order MC, or being ejected, they must be returned to the club.

Altercations

The IOMC is a law abiding, independent and neutral motorcycle club. Members of the IOMC have been verbally and physically confronted by other clubs, in part because of the make up of the IOMC. “Probably the best way to put it in a nutshell is to say the Iron Order has been having problems with everybody,” said Steve Cook, executive director of the Midwest Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Investigators Association, because they do not seek permission to exist nor permission to wear their club colors.

2013 – 5 June 2013. Iron Order Motorcycle Club was involved in a fight with Los Lobos MC in Cheyenne, Wyoming, which involved approximately 17 people.
