Gdynia Główna railway station (Polish for Gdynia main station) is the main railway station serving the city of Gdynia, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The station opened in 1921 and is located on the Nowa Wieś Wielka–Gdynia Port railway, Gdańsk–Stargard railway and the parallel Gdańsk Śródmieście–Rumia railway. The train services are operated by PKP, Przewozy Regionalne and SKM Tricity.

History
The first railway station in the centre of Gdynia opened on 1 January 1894. Initially it was a railway station with a small wooden waiting room, several lamps and a board with the name of the city. In 1920, Gdynia grew as a city and a port, resulting in a significant increase in passenger traffic. Therefore, in the years 1923-1926, a new, brick and imposing building, designed by Romuald Miller, was built which opened on July 15, 1926. In its interiors was a waiting room, toilets, luggage storage, restaurant, bookstore, money exchange and hairdresser.
The 1926 built railway station was destroyed in World War II. In the fifties a new station, designed by prof. Waclaw Tomaszewski, was built. The railway station building is a unique combination of architecture of social realist of the pre-war modernism . In the station waiting room are preserved frescoes of sea landscape, exposed again during the renovation in 2008. In the dining room, wall paintings depicting the celestial bodies and signs of the zodiac, and the mosaic depicting Pegasus at the wheel station are preserved.
The station was previously known as Gotenhafen. Until 11 March 2004 the station was called Gdynia Osobowa. Currently, all the markings changed to "Gdynia Glowna". Among others, a large inscription "Osobowa" on the station building was dismantled.
Modernisation
In August 2008, the station building has been entered in the register of monuments. In the same year modernisation of the station, which included, among others, reconstruction of the station concourse, canopies of the platforms and changes in the system of rail traffic control. During this work, in 2011, the brick wall station from 1926 was discovered, with a length of approx. 5 meters. It has been preserved and integrated into the newly renovated interior. On 6 June 2012 the modernised station was officially opened. The investment cost 40.7 million and was financed partly with EU funds.
