Domingo Garcia Hindoyan (born in Caracas, 15 February 1980) is a Venezuelan-Swiss conductor. He began his music studies as a violinist and member of the Venezuelan musical education program El Sistema. He went on to study conducting in Europe at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève with Laurent Gay. In 2012, he was invited to join the Allianz International Conductor’s Academy, where he worked with the London Philharmonic and The Philharmonia Orchestra, under conductors Esa-Pekka Salonen and Sir Andrew Davis, as well as masterclasses with Bernard Haitink.

He is the son of Domingo Garcia, a Venezuelan violinist and former president of the Orquesta Sinfonica Venezuela and Viki Hindoyan, lawyer at the Venezuelan National Parliament.

Hindoyan began his music studies as a violinist and a member of the Venezuelan musical education program El Sistema. He obtained a master's degree in conducting at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève with highest distinction with Laurent Gay and thereafter participated in master classes with Bernard Haitink, David Zinman and Jesus Lopez Cobos. He lives in canton Vaud, Switzerland and is married to Bulgarian operatic singer Sonya Yoncheva. The couple have a son, Mateo, born on 6 October 2014.

Hindoyan leads international ensembles, including The Philharmonia Orchestra, Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Orquesta de Valencia and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.

In 2013, he was appointed as the first assistant to Daniel Barenboim at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. Since then, he has become a guest conductor in the house, having conducted works including "La Traviata", "Tosca", "L’Elisir d’Amore", "La bohème", "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", "The Rake's Progress", "Orfeo ed Euridice" and The Rite of Spring (ballet).

In the 2016/17 season Hindoyan leads performances of Puccini’s "Tosca" and "La bohème" at the Staatsoper Berlin, Rossini’s "Il turco in Italia" at Bergen National Opera, Rossini’s "Semiramide" for Opéra National de Lorraine, and Stravinsky’s ballets "Le Sacre du Printemps" and "Petrouchka" at Zürich Opera. He has return engagements with The Philharmonia Orchestra,Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra.

Engagements in future seasons include debuts at The Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Liceu Barcelona, Oper Stuttgart, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, and concerts with numerous symphony orchestras throughout Europe and beyond.

Recent engagements include concerts with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy, New Japan Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic,Orchestre National de Lille, and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
