David Robert Mitchell (born c. 1974) is an American film director and writer. He directed the coming-of-age drama The Myth of the American Sleepover (2010). His supernatural horror film It Follows (2014) was acclaimed by critics and commercially successful considering its low, independent film budget. His next project is currently titled Under the Silver Lake, a modern noir film set in Los Angeles, which is set to star Andrew Garfield.

Life and career
Mitchell was born in Clawson, Michigan. He graduated from Florida State University with an MFA in Production. He was named as a member of the jury of the International Critics' Week section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
