Courtney Brown (born February 10, 1984) is a former American football cornerback who played for the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. He played college football at Cal Poly San Luis Obipso.
Brown attended Saint Mary's College High School, before moving on to California Polytechnic State University, a Division I-AA school, where he became a four-year starter.
He started as a true freshman in 2002 as a wide receiver and caught nine passes for 139 yards. He was moved to cornerback in 2003, where he started six of eight games he appeared, finishing with 16 tackles, two interceptions, and one pass break up.
Brown sustained a season ending knee injury one game into the 2004 season. He intercepted seven passes in the 13 games he started in the 2005 season, breaking up 12 passes and recording 44 total tackles. He played in 11 games in 2006, intercepting one pass, breaking up seven, and recording 51 tackles.
He was drafted in the seventh round (212th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. The team decided to keep Brown instead of Abram Elam during the last cuts of the preseason on September 2, 2007, which was a decision they would later come to regret. He was converted to free safety and played two seasons, recording 13 tackles, before being waived during final cuts on September 5, 2009, because of his tackling limitations.
New York Giants
After spending the 2009 season out of football, Brown signed a future contract with the New York Giants on January 6, 2010. He was placed on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury on September 4, 2010. He wasn't re-signed after his contract expired.
