Life

He was from Northern Italy, where he was born in 1906 in Milan. He was a student of fine arts at Scuola di Brera in Milan, today Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, a university. His interest was engraver, sculptor, but especially medallist. Affer remained in Milan, where he died in 1987.

Career

He began with exhibitions of his works in 1940, and participating in major Italian competitions and events. Since 1953 he was present in international fairs of medallic art. He was for many years the director of art at the Milan company Lorioli Fratelli. This firm produced medals of all kinds for all purposes. The production was also busts and reliefs for public buildings, and sports fields. A highlight was the commission to design and produce the official medals for the VII Olympic Winter Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites. His many works of art can be found in museums and private collections.
