History
Clay Township was organized in 1836.
Champ's Ford Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
Geography
According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 50.72 square miles (131.4 km2), of which 50.65 square miles (131.2 km2) (or 99.86%) is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 km2) (or 0.12%) is water.
