Universal 360 a cinesphere spectacular at universal studios


Cinesphere is the world's first permanent IMAX movie theatre. Built in 1971, its design is of a triodetic-domed structure, akin to a geodesic dome, similar to that of the later Spaceship Earth, the icon of Walt Disney World's Epcot theme park. The theatre is located on the grounds of Ontario Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

  • On July 31, 2014, the province announced plans to revitalize the area as an urban park with the Cinesphere and pods retained
  • During the renovations, the theatre was used as a test ground for IMAX's new laser projection system. Thus, it could be possible that the projection system has already been replaced after only a year upgrading to 3D.
