Chakloo (in revenue record Chakla) is a village on the bank of the Jhelum River in Jammu and Kashmir state, India. It is 6 km from Baramulla. There are two bridges which connect the village to Kanispora via Ladoora, and Kawaja Bagh via Jambazpora respectively. Its Block is Nadihal, Constituency Rafiabad, Post Office Rohama, Zone/ Police Station/ Tehsil/ District Baramulla, and State Jammu and Kashmir. There are nine Mohalas in the village namely Kaveer colony, Var Mohalla, Malik Mohalla, Gazi Mohalla, Moonge Mohalla, Doombe Mohalla, Peer Mohalla, Dar Mohalla and Zeebal colony. Recently the village was given new administrative unit (Nayabat).Compared to other villages in rafiabad this village has higher literacy rate .

Population

The village has a population of approximately 20-30 thousand people and is headed by panchayat committee led by Gul Sheikh commonly called Gul Bajere and Lamberdaar namely Abdul Aziz Sofi. The income of the people in the village is mostly from agricultural lands and fruit orchards, particularly apples.

Education and Culture

The literacy rate in this village is on higher side. With the growing literacy rate the village has produced several doctors. The most prominent names among them are award winning Dr. Sajad Hassan (Ph.D), Dr. Ajaz Ali (Ph.D), Dr. Mudasir Ali (BUMS), and Dr. Sajad Ahmad Sofi (MBBS). Dr. Sajad Hassan has published may research papers in national and international journal of repute. He is the first Ph.D. Doctor in the village. All these educationists are the alumni of Sheik-ul-Aalam Model Public School Chakloo. The village is rich in its tradition and culture. In marriages people are served with most famous food "Wazwaan". Apart from this marriage songs like "Ware Ware ", “Bande Tamash” and “Kashur Gawon” can be heard from everywhere. The village is commonly named as Haak chakul because of abundance of green leafy vegetables like saag.

Religion and language

There are shrines of two imams located in the village. One is Mulana Saatar Sahib (RA) situated in Gazi Mohalla and another one is Mulana Gayab Shah Sahib (RA) situated in Peer Mohalla of the village. The main languages are Kashmiri, Urdu and English, and the primary religion is Islam.
