Centropyge abei (Abe's angelfish) is a small marine angelfish of the genus Centropyge.

Distribution

Centropyge abei is found on deep reefs (between 100 and 155m) in the western Pacific ocean, amongst the islands of Indonesia and Palau.

Description

Centropyge abei grows to around 9 cm in size and has a predominantly yellow body with only the upper third (including the dorsal fin) being black or brown in colour. There is a white band running behind the gill plates of this fish (the head itself is black in colour) the caudal fin is white.

Habits

Centropyge abei is found mainly on the seabed (consisting of rubble) in temperatures ranging from 20-21 °C.
