Abel Ashworth (April–June 1864 – 10 January 1938) birth registered in Ashton-under-Lyne district, was a rugby union footballer who played in the 1890s, playing at representative level for England, and at club level for Oldham, as a Forward, e.g. Front row, Lock, or Back row, he died in Oldham. Prior to Tuesday 2 June 1896, Oldham was a rugby union club.

Abel Ashworth won a cap for England while at Oldham in 1892 against Ireland.
