1187 Afra, provisional designation 1929 XC, is a main-belt asteroid discovered on December 6, 1929, by Karl Reinmuth at Heidelberg Observatory, Germany. The X-type asteroid measures about 32 kilometers in diameter.

The light curve of 1187 Afra shows a periodicity of 14.09 ± 0.02 hours, during which time the brightness of the object varies by 6999400000000000000♠0.40±0.02 in magnitude.

It is not known to what person, group of persons, or occurrence the name "Afra" refers to.
