Is situated at the north of the province of caceres, between the valley of the river Ambroz and Alagon. It limits with sotoserrano, the Gabriel y Galan reservoir, villar de plasencia, jarilla, casas del monte, lagunilla, abadia and granja de granadilla. It has a total area of 134 km2.
History

The surname of granadilla was added to zarza when granadilla was expropriated to build the gabriel y galan reservoir. All the granadilla lands were given to la zarza unless the right margen of the river alagon
