Xintai (Chinese: 新泰; pinyin: Xīntài) is a county-level city administered under Tai'an prefecture-level city, in central Shandong province, People's Republic of China. It is located about 50 km to the southeast of the city of Tai'an.

History
In August 2007, the Shandong coal mine flood killed 181 miners.
Xintai has a long history, it is the earliest origin of human civilization. "Xintai Man" is one of the oldest members of the Chinese family. In 1966, a Homo teeth fossil was found in Xintai Wuzhutai village. Through expert appraisal, this tooth belonged to a teenage woman. It indicates that 5 million years ago, Homo erectus was living in this area. Moreover, a lot of primitive social sites was found on both sides of Chai Wen River after archaeological excavations, such as Dawenkou culture, Longshan culture and Yueshi culture. It can proves four or five thousand years ago, Chinese ancestors created a splendid ancient culture, opened a prelude to the Oriental human civilization in Xintai.
In the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, Xintai was Qi State capital. In 219 BC, Emperor Qin Shihuang held a ceremony in Mount Liangfu. The Western Han Dynasty Emperor Liu Che, the Eastern Han emperor Guangwu Liu Xiu also held the Zen ceremony in Xintai. Many well-known historical figures in China were from Xintai. Liu Xiahui, who was a peace activist; and Shi Kuang, who was a musician. Xintai's beautiful scenery is the reason why celebrities are attracted, many poets wrote excellent poems here.
In the early Qing Dynasty, in order to strengthen the north-south transport, Emperor Yongzheng ordered the creation of a new road which connected the north and south, "Yangliu station" was set up in Xintai. Xintai became an important transportation center.
Economy
Xintai is an important area of production of foods, vegetables and petroleum. There are about 1,600 million tons of coal deposits, other mineral deposits include quartz, limestone and clay. The industrial structure of Xintai is centered on energy, building materials, machines and chemical engineering. There are more than 1,000 corporations of industry and mining.
Transport
The Cilai railway runs through the city. The Jinghu and the Boxu expressways converge there.
