History
In 2007 Wylie East High School opened for the 2007-2008 school year. In the school's first year, it served solely the ninth grade students. However the district has previously promised that the class of 2011 (the school's first class) will go to the Wylie High School to graduate. District residents were asked to present suggestions at board meetings in late 2007 on whether to pursue multiple high schools. Wylie East became a 9-12 school after the district voted to go with multiple 9-12 campuses in January 2008. Wylie East began the 2009-2010 school year with freshman and sophomores and the Class of 2012 became the first class to graduate.
Due to a $21 million bond passed in May 2012 the school received a renovation and addition, altogether worth $18 million and making Wylie East the largest campus in Wylie ISD; this added career and technology classrooms, science classrooms, 500 parking spaces, a field house, a band hall, and two gymnasiums.
