Corners/Segments

The show consists of several segments, one of which is called "Idol of the Week", the main segment, features idol groups as the invited guests. The first idol group to record an episode and appear in the segment was Infinite. This segment usually consists of several featured corners:

  • "Random Play Dance" – The staff plays any songs that had been promoted by the guests. A song usually stops at a random point or changes to another song while the guests must dance with the proper choreography for each song. It can also be shuffled from the same song, or songs from opposite gender (boy groups dancing to girl group songs and vice versa).
  • "Profile Verification/Rewritten Profile" – The hosts (Hyeong-don and Defconn) feature the profile, info, facts, and rumors about the guest that are prepared by the staff on a profile card. The idols need to verify, or even, voluntarily prove the info before the MCs.
  • "Win Against Idol" – The guests play a game together with the hosts. If the guests can beat the hosts, the winning side will get the special prize and the losing side (usually the hosts) will get the physical punishment from the winners.
  • "Grill Idol" – A special corner where the guests must correctly answer the questions from the hosts that appear on a panel. Only after the guests get the question right, they can eat the grilled pieces of Hanwoo beef that are prepared by the staff. BtoB's Ilhoon frequently appears as a special guest host for this corner since November 2012.
  • "DoniConi Idol Call Center" – A special call center is prepared for 1 week before the recording and the fans can personally call in and leave a message for the idol which are later revealed to the idols.
  • "99 Seconds Challenge" – The guests need to succeed a certain mission during the 99 seconds in a relay. If they fail, there is a punishment that the Idol wrote before and everyone need to vote who's will take the punishment.
  • "x2 Speed Dance Challenge" - Using each group's latest songs, they must dance to the song in double speed, the best group wins a prize, while the worst gets bad remarks, especially from Defconn.
  • During these segments, the talk is usually held without too much formality, giving a chance for the hosts to give a humorous remark about the idols, or conversely, the idols can playing around with the hosts’ lack of physical fitness, engaging in a slapstick activity with the hosts.

Before "Idol of the Week" started, Weekly Idol had only one segment that is "Real Chart! Idol Self-Ranking", where idols are asked to rank each other on different topics and the results are then presented. After "Real Chart! Idol Self-Ranking" ended there is new segment to replace it that is "I Wonder If You Know", where MCs and idols featured in this segment, Ilhoon (BtoB) and Bomi (Apink), guess one answer out of two choice given to them about idols with the winning team get food as prize. Replacing the previous segment is "Weekly Food Tasting" where MCs and featured idols, Hayoung (Apink), Mina (AOA), and N (VIXX), complete mission to win foods they want. The next new segment is "Idols are the Best!" where various missions are given to the 4 idols who are featured in this segment, Jackson (Got7), Jooheon (Monsta X), SinB (GFriend) and Dahyun (Twice), as well as the MCs.

An annual year-closing episode, "Weekly Idol Award", held in the last episode of the year was started from December 31, 2011. In this episode, the host usually reviews the segments and the appearances from the guests that were featured in the past year.

Sometimes, there is a segment called "Idols Are The Best", where all hosts challenge one of 8 idols' special talents, and at least one of the hosts must complete the challenge to end the segment. If they fail, they must pick another idol's talent to challenge.

A new segment is introduced on February 23, 2017, named "Masked Idol: Your Name Is". This segment invites idols who are wearing masks and have to compete against one another to win. The winner gets to remove his/her mask and reveal himself/herself, while the rest don't get to remove their masks and have to attend next week's contest alongside 1 new masked idol. The winner also can get some promotion time for himself/herself and/or his/her group.
