Water Street Music Hall was a concert hall in Rochester, New York, located in the St. Paul Quarter entertainment district of Rochester, NY. Following a licensing dispute, the venue closed for performances in January 2017.

Contents

It had a large capacity, 7000 square foot entertainment complex featuring two rooms that can be used together or separately. The venue also hosted The Club at Water Street, a smaller room with a multi-tiered balcony. The smaller room, had approximately 2200 sq. feet of open space with a multi-tiered balcony. The 30-foot bar in the larger venue space was salvaged from an old church and offered a view of the stage, while the back of the room featured a concession stand. The Club at Water Street was equipped with projectors and screens for support use from the main room for a live broadcast of shows, slides and/or video or sporting events. Capacity of The Club was 400 standing including the balcony space. The main performance space offered a full PA and Stage and held a reputation as a great live room.

History

It opened in 1977 as the Country Warehouse, and has since been called The Warehouse, The Horizontal Boogie Bar and the Boogie Bar. It became the Water Street Music Hall in 1999.

Following an increased trend of violent incidents occurring at Water Street Music Hall events, the city of Rochester declined to renew the venue's entertainment licence in March 2016. While it reopened temporarily under a provisional licence, mismanagement ultimately resulted in the sale of the business to Buffalo, NY chain Funk 'N Waffles in February 2017.
