Ward Meachum is the brother of Rand-Meachum Inc.'s CEO Harold Meachum. After Iron Fist was blamed for the death of Harold when he was killed by a ninja sent by Master Khan, Ward and his niece Joy Meachum sought revenge on Iron Fist where Ward would come up with schemes to dispose of Iron Fist by enlisting villains to help him.

Ward Meachum started by hiring Steel Serpent to help get revenge on Iron Fist. Due to Ward having criminal connections, Steel Serpent stated to Ward that he couldn't work for him. After beating up Ward's bodyguards and leaving Ward alive, Steel Serpent states that his debt to Joy is paid and that he will take revenge on Iron Fist on his own.

Ward Meachum began to collaborate with Master Khan when it came to Ward trying to steal the Power Gem of Quon from Danny Rand. Master Khan even sent his minion Ferocia to help Ward. Then Ward Meachum enlisted Shades and Comanche where he gave Shades a special laser-shooting visor and Comanche a set of trick arrows when it comes to them targeting Power Man and Iron Fist. Upon obtaining the Power Gem of Qon, Ward and his men placed the Power Gem on Quon on a pedestal which they use to bring Master Khan back to Earth. Master Khan then told Ward about the Power Gem of Quon taking away Shou-Lao's powers from Iron Fist where it will give his dragons the eternal powers and be enough to kill Iron Fist. Master Khan is forced to fight Iron Fist when the Heroes for Hire attack. While Iron Fist was able to destroy the Power Gem of Quon to send Master Khan back to K'un-L'un, Ward and his men were arrested following the battle.

After Joy learned the truth about what happened to her father, Ward Meachum collaborated with Super-Skrull to help him take over Earth in exchange for Ward's hand for the "most beautiful woman in the galaxy." Ward was informed by Oracle Inc. worker and Phoebe Marrs that Super-Skrull's offer would be horrible to Ward. Due to the paranoia he developed from Phoebe's warning, Ward started turning against the Skrulls by sabotaging the machine. This left Super-Skrull with no choice but to use his pyrokinesis to kill Ward.
