Vladimir Morozan

Biography

V.V.Morozan was born in Kishinev (Chişinău) into the family of a police officer. He graduated from the History faculty of Saint Petersburg State University (1990). In 1996 Morozan completed his thesis titled "History of savings offices in pre-revolutionary Russia" (Russian: Государственные сберегательные кассы в дореволюционной России) at the Saint Petersburg branch of the institute of Russian history at the Russian Academy of Science. In 2001 he completed his doctoral thesis titled History of banking in Russia (second half of the 18th - first half of the 19th centuries) (Russian: История банковского дела в России (вторая половина XVIII — первая половина XIX вв.)), at the same university.

Between 1991 and 1996 Morozan taught at the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg. with 1997 - the senior teacher, the senior lecturer, the professor, with 2003 - managing faculty of the Russian history of St. Petersburg Agricultural y-that. In 2002 Morozan became a professor at Saint Petersburg State Agricultural University. Currently Morozan is a professor at the St. Petersburg State university. Areas of his scientific interests include national history, study of local lore, economic history of the 18th-20th centuries. The majority of his works are devoted to the history of finance and banking, as well as the history of business in Imperial Russia. The research work of Morozan is based on extensive archival sources and supported by statistical data.
