All visitors to Ethiopia except Kenya and Djibouti nationals require a visa.

Visa exemption

Citizens of the following 2 countries do not require a visa to visit Ethiopia:

Holders of diplomatic or service passports of any country other than Eritrea, Pakistan and Somalia do not require a visa for up to 3 months.

Land Border Arrivals

Visas are required for all visitors (except Kenya and Djibouti nationals) and they must be obtained from one of the Ethiopian diplomatic missions.

Visa on arrival

Tourist visa (valid for up to three months) can be issued on arrival only at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to nationals and residents of the following 40 countries and territories:

1 - For British citizens only.

This policy does not apply to nationals of Eritrea, Somalia and Pakistan, as well as any person who is of Eritrean or Somali origin.

Visa is also granted on arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport for visitors with an invitation letter attending meetings, seminars, or workshops organized by the African Union participants of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa conferences and meetings.
