Viktoria Savs Von der kukKriegsheldin zur Gehilfin Hitlers Viktoria Savs

Viktoria Savs (1899-1979), was an Austrian soldier. She enlisted in the imperial Austrian army in the guise of a man and was awarded with the Medal for Bravery (Austria-Hungary) for valor in combat for her service in the Dolomitian front in 1915-1917. She retired from service when she had to amputate her leg in 1917 and her sex was discovered during treatment. She then served within the Red Cross during the rest of the war, were she was also decorated for her service. She attracted attention and was hailed as a patriotic war heroine.
